As a functioning place of worship and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Duomo complex requires visitors to follow certain guidelines. Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is mandatory inside the Cathedral and other sacred spaces. Photography without flash is generally permitted, but tripods and large bags are not allowed. Visitors are also expected to remain silent in prayer areas and to respect any closures during liturgical events.
